PRINCE, THOMAS CHAFER JR., M.D. - age 85 of Knoxville, was to preach at Harvest Christian Fellowship Sunday morning, but was called to a divine appointment with his Savior Jesus Christ. Dr. Prince was a surgeon and in private practice in Knoxville for 64 years. He was an avid runner, student of biblical prophecy and a pilot. He enjoyed singing with a barber shop quartet, The Dignitaries and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Dr. Prince served as the University of Tennessee Track Physician under Coaches Rohe and Huntsman. As a member of the United States Air Force, Dr. Prince served as a flight surgeon during the Korean Conflict. Preceded in death by the mother of his children, Katherine Coker Prince; granddaughter, Merry Katherine Prince; parents, Thomas C. Prince, Sr. and Abigail Prince and brother, Rev. Matthew Prince, Sr. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gail Prince; children, Thomas C. Prince, III and wife Angie, Gayle Skaggs and husband Michael, Gary M. Prince, Sr. and friend Ann Wallace, Steven Prince and wife Blair; grandchildren, Rollin and Nathan Prince, Michael and Cody Skaggs, Michael and Daniel Prince, Megan Hamby, Emily and Philip Prince; great grandchildren, Teagan Skaggs and Merry Elizabeth Prince; several beloved nieces, nephews and thousands of friends and patients. Dr. Thomas Prince, Jr. joined the Dignitaries as Baritone in 1961. Prince is a surgical specialist in general and thoracic surgery. He has been regional vice president, executive vice president, and president of the Dixie District. He has served as an International board Member representing Dixie. He joined the Society in 1949 and has been a member of many quartets and choruses. For many years he piloted the quartet to preformances from Los Angeles to Boston and Canada to Mexico.
